Media monitoring week: Hillary Clinton fails.

This is the excerpt for a placeholder post.

Surprisingly, Donald Trump has become the 45th president of the United States. And yes, why has USA chosen a misogynist, racist and tyrant man as their president for the next four years? Did America prefer a sexist rather than a liar?

Hillary Clinton tried to play the gender card, attempting to become the first woman president of the United States, but despite Trump making derogatory and outrageous comments against women, Clinton failed to win the support she expected. Curiously, Clinton lost support from Hispanic and African American voters, which is certainly shocking since Trump’s description of a Mexican was “rapist”.

"Mexico are sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, and bringing crime." Donald Trump

One of the major reasons for Trump’s success was his extraordinary support from the rural areas. Traditionally people in agrarian areas or small towns are more likely to vote for Republican candidates, which certainly benefited Trump and affected Clinton’s campaign.

Despite Trump’s support from white Americans, it is undeniable that one key element for Clinton’s defeat was FBI’s investigation into Clinton’s private email server. This converted Clinton into a dishonest woman for a large part of America, greatly influencing on her campaign.

It is quite interesting how influential newspapers as the Guardian or the Telegraph tried to analyse Clinton’s defeat and the different reasons for it, while newspapers as the Mirror or the Daily Mail just focused on Clinton’s reaction after the election. Undoubtedly, the Guardian and the Telegraph were much more analytical, evaluating Clinton’s campaign for the past few months.
